Please refrain from any strenuous physical activity for the first 24-48 hours post-operatively. Most patients are able to return to work or other routine activities the day after surgery.

Please refrain from all of the following as they may adversely affect your surgical incision and delay healing: smoking, using smokeless tobacco, consuming alcohol, drinking through a straw (or other similar sucking actions), examining the surgical incision/sutures by pulling your lip aside, and/or excessive spitting.

You will be prescribed an antibacterial mouth rinse to help keep the surgical area clean while your incision is healing. Please use as directed, following the directions on the label of the bottle. Dr. Kreutzer will also provide you with additional oral hygiene instruction in our office.

You will need to return to our office 3-7 days after your surgery for a short follow-up examination to check the progress of your healing and for removal of sutures. There is no additional fee charged for this follow-up examination.

Should you continue to experience post-operative discomfort that is not alleviated by the above medications, or should you have further post-operative questions, please contact our office.
